SA2020 Partners With PechaKucha to Host Volume 20

PechaKucha SA2020

From making the case for a $4 croissant to explaining the value of recycled materials in art, PechaKucha topics are as diverse and far-reaching as they come. The next presentations won’t be any different, but the milestone 20th PechaKucha SA night will be a little more thematic than usual.

In celebration of Volume 20, and of the halfway point to meeting our 2020 goals, your very own SA2020 will co-present the next PechaKucha night on December 1st. And, in true SA2020 fashion, the night will be about catalyzing the community.

Eight community members will take to the stage at Majestic Theatre and share their unique stories about how they’re driving action in San Antonio. And we mean it when we say unique: among others, we’ll hear from a chef, a Poet Laurate, a current eighth grader (class of 2020!), and mayor Ivy Taylor. Head over to the Rivard Report to read more about our awesome speakers.

The distinctive PechaKucha format (each presenter works off of 20 slides that automatically advance every 20 seconds) will only add to the fun. Emcee Randy Beamer of News 4 San Antonio will also be on hand to set the stage and ask each speaker a few follow-up questions.

PechaKucha (meaning “chit chat” in Japanese) began in Tokyo in 2003, and made its way to San Antonio in 2011. Hosted quarterly at different local venues, it has become not just a presentation event, but also a celebration of what makes San Antonio great.

This will certainly be the case at Volume 20. We’ll sample snacks from mainstays like Dignowity Meats, Bakery Lorraine, and The Esquire Tavern, enjoy onsite screen printing by Cruz Ortiz and Snake Hawk Press, and then settle in to hear from some fellow San Antonians. You can check out a full list of speakers and sponsors here.

Want to join in on the fun? We thought you might. You can buy your tickets right here! Proceeds benefit SA2020 and as part of #GivingTuesday, we’re asking that guests give what they can, instead of setting a specific price.

Join us on December 1st, learn more about a topic (or two… or three) you’ve never thought about, and find out how you can help move the needle in San Antonio.
