2nd Grade Reading Buddy Program

Opportunity by San Antonio Youth Literacy

Volunteer to read with a 2nd grade student reading below grade level. This commitment requires that you volunteer one hour a week for a minimum of 8 weeks. In that one hour you will read with two 2nd grade students one-on-one for 30 minutes each. We are currently in 75 elementary schools across San Antonio with the majority of our schools inside loop 410. We can match you with a school and reading time that match your schedule. Volunteers will be reading with their 2nd grade students during the school day 8am - 3pm. While the minimum commitment is 8 weeks our results show that students who are read with for an entire school year can improve up to two grade levels.
