San Antonio Walks! aims to increase the number of people meeting recommendations for physical activity and reduce obesity.

Walking groups provide an opportunity for members to get to know their neighbors, offer support to one another, and increase physical activity. The Mayor’s Fitness Council, San Antonio Metropolitan Health District (Metro Health), Palo Alto College, and the Neighborhood Resource Center established a “train the trainer” model for neighborhood walking groups. Walking group leaders are asked to schedule a regular walking group time.
