2015: The Year of Double

At the end of every year, I find myself thinking back on the milestones of the year passed. In my personal life, I have had The Year of Moving – three times in one year – and The Year of Dogs – I have five rescues because I’m a sucker.

I haven’t quite figured out what this year will be called – a lot has happened in my personal life this year – but if I had to speak for SA2020 – and sometimes, I actually have to – I’d say that this was The Year of Double. This year, at SA2020, we doubled down and doubled our impact.

In 2015:

  • We joined 14 collaborative coalitions, spanning all areas of our collective vision and impacting all areas of the city. We helped facilitate collaborative problem solutions in neighborhoods, health access, workforce, arts, early childhood, civic engagement, and education, working with over 100 area organizations, corporations, and civic leaders.
  • We increased our involvement in events across our community, providing direct links to get involved in our collective goals. In fact, we collaborated on/participated in/hosted more than 165 events; gave over 35 presentations; and endorsed 45 community events, reaching over 90,000 people.
  • SA2020.org underwent a major overhaul, helping further connect individuals to organizations for direct involvement and aligning even more organizations toward our collective vision. As such, our list of partners grew to 133, and more than 3,800 individuals have created profiles to get involved.
  • We saw an increase in regional and national attention with requests for presentations and information on our work from national funders and organizations in cities like Jacksonville, Florida, Omaha, Nebraska, and Greensboro, North Carolina.

We are very lucky. We are inspired every day by people who are committed to San Antonio’s SA2020 community vision. Our small team is more than just seven staff members and ten board members; the entire community is our team, and we are honored to be working in partnership with you. We were amazed at the support we received in 2015, nearly doubling our individual donations to over 240 people. It is because of you that we can continue to expand our work and further our city on the rise.
