Michelle Garcia Shaw

Michelle was born in San Antonio and raised in Edinburg, Texas. Her parents were local business owners in the Rio Grande Valley for many years owning restaurants, construction companies and clothing stores. At seventeen, Michelle left Edinburg to attend Texas A&M University where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Science. From there Michelle went on to earn her Juris Doctorate at St. Mary’s University in 2005. She was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 2005 and began her litigation career at the Bexar County District Attorney’s office trying misdemeanor and felony offenses in the Family Justice and Victim Protection division. In 2011, Michelle accepted a position as in-house counsel for a large insurance company and focused her work in the areas of premises liability and personal injury defense litigation. Her work in the practice of Insurance Defense earned her a San Antonio Best Lawyer designation in 2012. In nearly ten years of practice, Michelle has tried more than twenty-five cases to juries and practiced before all of the local Judges and many Judges in the counties surrounding Bexar.

In her spare time, Michelle is committed to health and fitness, teaching group fitness classes at local gyms. Additionally, Michelle is active in her community, volunteering with the San Antonio Food Bank Mobile Pantry, Habitat for Humanity and at her parish, St. Luke Catholic Church.
